Bell 0 Black I is the shadow of an existing brass handbell, a found object visibly marked by time but without indication of its original makers and owners. An echo of an anonymous object, this translation in 3D printed resin first transposed the physical into a virtual form through 3D modeling, then into a liquid and solid through the resin and light of stereolithography 3D printing. The work echoes the original bell’s history of transformation from molten to cold metal, liquid and solid, as well as its lost history of hands that held it and vibrations it must have produced.
Level 13A
A+ Works of Art at Hotel Art Fair Bangkok, InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit, 6-8 Sept 2024
“Born from the fear of the number four in the Sinophone world, enter Level 13A. Defined by what isn’t seen, the hotel sees transient families, whispered arguments in forgotten languages, and the invisible figures who maintain its silence. Behind closed doors, these spaces are designed to erase traces of the past, preparing for the next fleeting guest.”
